Special Force 200km

I know this is too late for most Ultra runners to know, but just to give you the low down on this remarkable event that is taking place. This would be to me be rated as one of the top crazy running events, because of the mileage coverage over the period of 5 days.  this event is called the “Special Forces 200KM” will be held on from 28th April to 2nd May 2012.

Ok maybe not that gruesome because of the divided mileage over the 5 days. Still in total you would have been running for 200km, thats more than Leadvill100.

This is Malaysia’s first 200km staged extreme ultra marathon.

A 200 kilometer staged ultra trail marathon starting in Ranau, the site of the end of the death march to Sandakan in remembrance of the thousands of Malaysians and Allied Prisoners of War who perished on the infamous death march route and throughout the period of occupation throughout North Borneo. As Malaysia’s first 200k ultra marathon, the event will highlight and identify historical aspects of the route during official briefings as well as give an insight to competitors as to the significance of the route throughout the 5 days of competition.

This is an extreme event and competitors must have the physical conditioning to cope with the extreme distance of this event. The object of this event is to complete the entire race course covering 200 kilometers from the foothills of Mount Kinabalu to the marshlands of Sandakan in Malaysia’s toughest ultra marathon over 5 days.

Day-1 : 51km 50% trail run/50% tar sealed road
Day-2 : 30km Trail run
Day-3 : 20km 85% Trail run/15% tar sealed road
Day-4 : 35km Trail run
Day-5 : 66km 60%Trail run/40% tar sealed road

The Entry fees I would say is not reasonably cheap for this type of event, yeah, you may factor in 5 days accommodation but its no Shangri-La

Malaysian: RM2000 per person

Non-Malaysian: USD$1500 per person

and This includes 6 nights accommodation, support during the event, transfer of all bags and luggage, bus transfer from Kota Kinabalu to Ranau, drinking water during the event at check points, medical team support for duration of the event, meals during the event, official event tee and finisher’s medal for all competitors who complete the entire staged event. Transfers from finish point at Ulu Dusun to Hotel included.

Oh did I mention that there is only 50 slots available due to the logistics of this magnitude. What can I say, this is their first event. So schedule this if you are into Ultra running.
