Meet Gia Gia and Jiak Jiak at Sentosa

Two “pandas” were spotted on Sentosa last week! Much to the delight of guests, the pandas – Gia Gia and Jiak Jiak – were seen boarding the Sentosa Express and the beach tram. They also visited Palawan Beach for a picnic, Koufu Food Court for local desserts and Rasa Spa at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort for a relaxing bamboo massage.

The pandas were on Sentosa, not only for fun, but also for a video shoot for Sentosa’s official YouTube channel, Sentosa TV. During the shoot, they were introduced to Singaporean etiquette, i.e. giving up reserved seats on the train. Here’s the video link: http://youtu.be/VjVTA-EazKw

Who are Gia Gia and Jiak Jiak?

Gia Gia (“walking around” in Hokkien) is a friendly male panda who enjoys walking around and working out in the gym. Jiak Jiak (“non-stop eating” in Hokkien) is Gia Gia’s girlfriend who enjoys eating almost everything, including sugar cane and moon cakes, and always carries her little pink sling bag around.

  1. First off I had to first figure out what Sentosa was. Its sorta like Disney Land of Singapore. I assume the Pandas are part of a publicity campaign? Love learning new things about other places in the world

    • yeah .. its no six flags but it will do as one of Singapores attraction. If you do drop by you gotta visit Sentosa as it houses Universal Studios and a few other attractions.

Sentosa itself is one of the attraction.
