Cold Storage Triathlon 2013 (New Categories)

Organised by the Triathlon Association of Singapore, Cold Storage Singapore 2013 (CSSIT) is expected to attract a capacity crowd of 3,500, with participants as young as 7 years old.

Held over two days on 28 and 29 September at East Coast Park (Area E2), the International Triathlon Union (ITU) sanctioned event will feature a new non-competitive category – the Family Relay Challenge, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle for the family and encourage bonding through exercise.

To participate, children aged 10 and above are encouraged to form a team with their siblings and/or parents to complete the Mini Triathlon distance of 200m Swim, 10km Bike and 2km Run for the honour of Singapore’s “Best Triathlete Family”.

Various categories of different difficulty levels are available for triathlon beginners and experienced alike. The Mini Triathlon category will take place on Saturday, 28 September along with other categories such as the Sprint Triathlon (750m Swim, 20km Bike and 5km Run) and the Kids Triathlon (various age groups and distances, see below for detailed info).

The scene is then set for the participants of the Standard Distance category on Sunday, 29 September, where they will complete the Olympic distance of 1.5km Swim, 20km Bike and 10km Run . Winners in the Elite and Junior Elite Categories, will gain points for their ITU World ranking and get to win a total prize money of USD$10,000.

Register now at TAS will donate S$1 for each race entry and all proceeds will go to TAS’ adopted charity, the Singapore Children Society. Registration for the CSSIT will close on 25 August 2013.

I was disappointed and i believe there are many others too, the race for the openmen sprint category was late for 45 minutes and have started at 9:55am instead of 9:10 for the black cappers. But the organizers cutoff the bike leg at exactly 10:45am instead of 11:15 because thethe cutofd time should have also been adjusted by 45 more minutes as well. Many cyclist on the last loop were stopped suddenly by the race personnels which could have been more dangerous as i was forced to break from top speed. We were force to do the run leg without completing the last loop of less than 5km. This was a big mistake, and now we will pay with incomplete bike loop in the race result for a mistake done by the organizers.
