Have you guys been training hard for the upcoming Mizuno Ekiden? or you still thinking of signing up with your team of four, I have to say it will be challenging, it will be hot, it will be furious. Anyway it will be the last call for Mizuno Ekiden registration which ends this coming 10th June. I am not sure if my coupon has been used up but you can still try to register with it.
In Japanese terms, Ekiden refers to a relay-styled long distance running. Runners get to register in teams of four across three different categories, If you guys can’t run the 42km, you can always opt for the 21k, or the Corporate category (21.1km).
The event strives to instill and portray remarkable Japanese values such as individual perseverance, teamwork and the ability to showcase a high level of performance in intense and challenging situations.
I am so excited that in just about two months from now, the Mizuno Ekiden Run will hold their second race in Singapore and what better way to run with your buddies and sharing the burden of running a full 42km, if not a the 21km run will suffice if you guys want a fast and furious run on that day because it will only be 5km route for each person.
Got to be honest that I have
not been training for this run and I feel totally guilty about it because of work load, I bet my team mates are giving me the dagger stare right about now when they are reading this. Luckily it is a Ekiden and not a full 42km race, but still this does not give me the reason to slack off on my run position. OK MOTIVATION HERE I COME.
Also I bring you guys good news if you are reading this because you wanted to register for this event then you came to the right place because I am sharing with all my readers a special redemption code for a full $60 off for each team signing up, but remember this offer is only limited to the first 10 teams. So sign-up here while you still can.
If this is your first time trying out Ekiden with your friends, here are some tips that you might want to use to align your runners according to their speed but this is just a guideline feel free to use it
- 1st Runner should be your 2nd fastest
- 2nd Runner could be your remaining or slowest
- 3rd Runner should be your slowest
- 4th Runner should be the best runner to play catch up
Hope to see you guys there and Happy Training. Don’t say I Boh Jio

For those that have race in the past Ekiden event, They can surely bring their A game to retain reconnect the camaraderie to better themself as this year, Mizuno has just confirmed that they will be bringing back the Ekiden series for the 2nd time running.
Not only that they have understood and heard the runners feedback, the most important aspect which could be a big downfall was the start timing for the run, but they have heard us and Mizuno changed the starting time to 4pm, This is actually a better timing than the 9am we had last year, by the 3rd and 4th runner, we are ROAST
With a 4pm start time, everyone can enjoy the after Matsuri carnival with beer and food to chillax the night away, I hope they have after party cause the carnival was absolutely a blast. I only foresee a few problems at the Matsuri village such as ..
- More chairs and table is needed
- Better queue management for stalls
- Let people use cash instead of coupon
- More stalls ??
To be honest, the carnival and race even was as perfect as any event could be, just that last year route Marshall and signs was hardly visible, so I hope this year much improvement would have done for it as well but we will just have to wait and see.
I want to say Thank you to Mr Kiyoshi Tatani,President of Mizuno Singapore for bringing this event back and I can’t wait to tell my previous team about this. See you guys there.

Mizuno announced the launch Wave Tenjin, a co-branded luxurious neutal running shoe with the super sports car brand Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. (Sant’Agata Bolognese) starting September 11 at Mizuno’s company stores and official online shop. These are the first products to go on sale based on the collaboration agreement concerning sporting goods and events signed by these two companies in January 2015. These products will also go on sale in other territories.
Mizuno has developed collaborative products under the concept of integrating Lamborghini’s image of a super sports car brand and Mizuno’s functionality, which the company has cultivated by manufacturing sporting goods
Fitting to the collaboration with a super sports car brand, the shoe comes equipped with top-of-the-line Infiniti Wave feature of Mizuno’s running shoes, which provides superior cushioning. The Lamborghini logo adds shine at the tongues and the heels of the shoes.
The shoe design incorporates the car element motif. The side of the shoe is modeled after a side view of a car. The resin parts attached on the mesh fabric are designed to look like air ducts. In addition, the design of the eyelets for shoelaces and the forepart of the shoe sole uses a hexagon, which symbolizes the Lamborghini brand.
